Write a brief history of the establishment of Assam Agricultural University

The history of Assam Agricultural University began with the setting up of agricultural research stations at Karimganj in 1913 and Titabar in 1923. Later, the need for an agricultural university was strongly felt. As a result, the Assam Agricultural College was started at Jorhat, and the Assam Veterinary College began at Nowgong in 1948.

Finally, in 1969, the Assam Agricultural University (AAU) was established, combining these two colleges. The Veterinary College was later shifted to Khanapara, Guwahati. It became the first agricultural university in the entire North-East region.
